Those who have been transformed by Avante Social have a lot to say:

“In my personal growth, I am gaining a basic understanding of how to survive. I have learned how to take care of a house, how to cook, and how to fend for myself. Here at Avante, I have matured and changed the way I see myself in the world. I have learned to take responsibility for my choices and to pursue what I believe is important to have an independent life. I had a lot of help to get a job, support to finish school. I am sure that I would not have been able to finish high school without this support. It was not easy. I was referred to health services several times when I needed them, and I also received help to obtain some documents that I did not have. I was also referred to a gastronomy course that I am really enjoying. I think I will work in this area.”

“I am a resident of Villa Santana and a user of PH. Zona Norte and since May 2023 I have been using the facilities of this PH, constantly to take medication. On several occasions I found the environment to be very busy, but I was never treated with disrespect, I was always treated with attention and respect by all employees, including the receptionists, nurses, and doctors, and not forgetting the cleaning staff, who keep it clean and well organized.”

“With Avante’s coordination here at Vila Dignidade, I feel safer with the boys here every night, taking care of us. I really enjoy participating in the activities they do with us. I like painting, playing, walking, stretching and I also participate in the parties the team organizes, such as Bingo, celebrating the birthdays of the month and chatting circles during afternoon coffee. That’s it!! I’m very happy with them here!”

“The house allowed me to take courses on workplace relationships at Senac, a mechanical drawing course at Senai, and I started working at a supermarket. Being here has helped me a lot! Changing my attitudes in dealing with people, being responsible with my things, has helped me to be more polite and respectful. It has improved my anxiety and my organization. Today I can keep my things more organized, interact with and make friends with different people.”

“I really like being at Casa de Passagem Travessia. Here, I was very well received by the staff, they provided me with a second copy of my documents, I started receiving my benefits again and I’m going to get my teeth fixed. The place is spacious and I love listening to music under the trees. If it weren’t for Casa de Passagem, I think I would be dead, because living on the streets brings many dangers.”

“One thing that has changed is that before I lived with my aunt and now I live at Casa Lar do Avante Social, and I feel protected. I really like the staff because people treat me well.
