Another important initiative by the Avante Social Institute in conjunction with the City of Mogi Mirim-SP, through the Department of Social Welfare! This time, the institution has expanded its target audience even further, taking on the co-management of Vila Dignidade, a residential home for the elderly who are in a situation of vulnerability and social risk.
The Vila Dignidade program was created by the Government of the State of São Paulo, through the Housing Secretariat, CDHU (Housing and Urban Development Company) and São Paulo city councils, aiming to guarantee decent housing and social work for the elderly and low-income population.
The Vila has 24 houses in its complex designed according to the Universal Design concept. The homes are 44 square meters and have the necessary structure to accommodate the elderly, with a bedroom, adapted bathroom, kitchen, service area and an outdoor area in the back for a garden or vegetable garden. The Vila also has a gym area, made up of several equipment and an events room. Today, the place is home to 23 residents, aged 60 or over and with a monthly income of up to two minimum wages.
The city of Mogi Mirim, through the Department of Social Assistance, presented on December 19th, the management of Vila Dignidade by Avante Social.
