Casa Travessia's mission is to provide a listening, caring and committed service, helping teenagers to disassociate themselves from the streets, crime and practices that threaten their development. We work to rebuild family and community ties, provide them with school integration, access to protected work and, when necessary, strengthen their autonomy for adult life.

What we offer

With a psychosocial approach and a dedicated team, the project carries out:

• Qualified reception and active listening;
• School insertion and monitoring;
• Referral to social projects and protected work opportunities;
• Access to health services;
• Support in regularizing documents;
• Strengthening family and community ties.

All this with respect for the individuality, stories and pain of each teenager.

A space of care and safety

Casa Travessia has the capacity to accommodate up to 12 adolescents at a time, with changes depending on demand. Care is continuous and attentive, especially because the challenges are great: substance abuse and involvement in crime are recurring features that require presence, patience and professionalism.

Paths that open up

Even in complex situations, the fruits of shelter are visible. An inspiring example is that of a teenager sheltered at Casa Travessia who, after being sent to the Men's Republic, now works as a general services assistant at one of Avante Social's shelters. Stories like this show that with support and opportunity, the future can be rewritten.

Partnerships that strengthen

Casa Travessia coordinates actions with several partners, such as the services of the Belo Horizonte City Hall, the Desembola and Se Liga programs, as well as churches and other civil society initiatives. These connections expand care and strengthen the possibilities for reintegration.
