CARE FOR ADOLECENTS AND YOUNG PEOPLE COMPLETING SOCIO-EDUCATIONAL MEASURES
Reception, autonomy and new paths for adolescents and young people after socio-educational measures
Se Liga is a program born from a commitment to freedom. A project that supports adolescents and young adults after completing socio-educational measures of internment or semi-liberty, offering comprehensive support in the transition to a life of freedom, dignity, rights, and real future prospects.

Description
Se Liga's mission is to build a post-retirement life project with young people, based on the recognition of their history, potential and dreams. More than a support service, the program is a policy of reception and reconstruction, respecting the time, choices and right of each young person to autonomy.
What we do
Se Liga works in different dimensions of the lives of adolescents and young people who have left prison, through:
- Individual services, with qualified listening and continuous monitoring;
- Referrals to the education network, professional training courses and job opportunities;
- Support in accessing physical and mental health, in conjunction with public services in the region;
- Collective activities and cultural, sports and leisure workshops that encourage youth leadership;
- Strengthening family and community ties;
- Articulation of support networks and prevention of reoffending;
- Presentation of the program during the period of compliance with the measure, encouraging voluntary engagement after dismissal.
Who we serve
Between April and May 2025, Se Liga monitored around 30 adolescents and young people who were dismissed or placed in custody in units in the Belo Horizonte Metropolitan Region. The program is open to all, lasting up to 1 year from the young person's inclusion, and can be resumed within that period.
Why is this so important?
Many young people and their families still confuse Se Liga with an extension of the socio-educational measure — which can generate resistance or disinterest. But Se Liga is, in fact, a voluntary space for listening, support and autonomy, which aims precisely to break with the logic of institutionalization and strengthen freedom as a right to be lived with safety and dignity.
Impacts that transform
The transformation fostered by the program can be seen in both major achievements and small, everyday advances. One inspiring example is that of a young man with mental health issues who, with the program's support, was able to relocate his apprenticeship to a position for people with disabilities, ensuring dignity and continued employment.
Partnership network
Se Liga operates in a network with several institutions that strengthen its performance:
- Inpatient and semi-freedom units of the RMBH;
- CRAS, CREAS, CAPS, health centers, SCFV and other social assistance and health facilities;
- Institutions such as SENAC, Supermercados BH, Programa Descubra, Programa Fica Vivo and the Youth Reference Center (CRJ) — the latter, a fundamental space for activities, workshops and interaction with young people.
How can you support Se Liga?
- Do not reproduce stigmas: every young person has the right to change and to rebuild their own history;
- Offer real opportunities for education, work and coexistence;
- Embrace empathy: many young people face mental health challenges and need safe environments to thrive;
- Build networks: partnerships with companies, cultural and social institutions make all the difference.
What we disclose
We responsibly share collective actions, workshops, partnerships, reflections and progress made by participants, always respecting the right to privacy of young people. Personal stories are only shared with express authorization.
